Description
For IUD training programs running the Astra™ model across repeated sessions, a replacement silicone uterus with cervix that restores tactile realism once the original wears from tenaculum use and repeated insertions.
The Astra uterus with cervix is a consumable component and is intended to be replaced periodically as wear occurs.
As with any soft-tissue simulation model, the uterine component will experience normal wear with repeated use. Over time, the feel and resistance of the uterine component may change, particularly with repeated tenaculum use. The rate of wear will vary depending on IUD type and size, tenaculum placement and technique, and frequency and manner of use. A change in the tactile feel of the uterine component with use is an expected characteristic of the model and does not necessarily indicate a defect. The uterine component can be replaced when the desired level of tactile realism is no longer achieved.
