Description

Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) is a book for osteopaths, osteopathic manual practitioners, and therapists with a thorough knowledge of cranial anatomy and cranial manual techniques. It would also be helpful for burning mouth sufferers because it contains research on the causes, signs and symptoms, and treatment of the condition.

The book is well-researched and contains over 350 references. The book covers the primary and secondary causes and the pathophysiology of BMS. It also describes the cranial nerve injuries that can lead to the BMS dysfunction.

There are guidelines for the assessment of this condition including history taking, functional testing, and palpatory procedures. Diagnostic recommendations are also indicated. There is a large section on the treatment options including medications, acupuncture, laser, and osteopathic techniques for each of the twelve cranial nerves.
