Table / bench mount

The default station mount. A suction base and clamp secure it to any table or horizontal surface up to 3.5" thick. The 9" rod and locking ball joint recline the typodont below parallel to the ground, which is as close as you get to a real supine patient without a chair.

Best forLab workstations at dental schools, and the first mount most students buy for practicing at home.

Table / bench mount, extended length

The same mount on a 12" rod instead of 9". The extra distance lets students sit a few inches further back from the workstation, which is better ergonomics for taller students and for labs where bench spacing pushes the operator away from the model.

The trade off is leverage. That added distance puts more wear on the swivel joint over time, so while it works, we do not recommend the CBM-3W with a DARWIN head and the pressure that comes with sustained practice. Pair it with a typodont or an FRP head. This is a custom order and takes two to four weeks.

Chair and bench mount

The hybrid. It clamps to a bench the same way the CBM-3 does, and it clamps to a dental chair headrest support with no extra hardware. It uses the same 9" rod, but because of where it sits it holds the typodont higher than the table mount, which many schools prefer even on a pure table setup. The same ball joint simulates movement of the neck, though the head cannot go below parallel to the table.

Best forSchools using a table setup where additional height is preferred, and anyone splitting practice between a bench and a chair.

Compact bench and chair mount

Does everything the CBM-3A does in a smaller footprint, with a second ball joint. That extra joint is the reason to choose it: it lets you seat the head or manikin properly on the headrest rather than fighting the angle of the chair, and then fine tune the position for the operator. In a lab with mixed chairs and students of different sizes, that adjustability is what keeps every station ergonomic instead of merely usable. The 8" rod rotates a full 360 degrees, and the adjusting handles are designed to be worked without tools.

Best forSchool and university labs, where one mount specification has to work across different chairs, positions and student heights.

Glide bar (chair) mount

The most secure chair mount available, and the simplest. It clamps straight onto the headrest glide bar with no tools, and a 10" rod carries your typodont or head from there. There is no bench option, so this is the mount you buy when the chair is the only station you will ever use.

Porta-Sim Stand

A collapsible tripod that needs no surface at all. It starts at roughly 32 inches and rises about 12 inches from there with a turn of the handle, and it gives full 360 degree access around the typodont, which is why faculty use it to demonstrate posture and technique. The 10" rod, instrument tray, mount and DP-Lock are all included.

It is at its best with a typodont and light pressure from hand instruments. The added weight of a DARWIN head does introduce some instability, so it is not the choice for heavy handpiece work. What it does better than anything else is disappear: practice, fold it away, get the room back.

Best forStudents and individuals who need a versatile setup at home, and programs adding student capacity or running remote and hybrid practice without building out new lab space.
